Pacific FC has re-signed local talent Sean Young to the 2022 roster. Young, a product of the Vancouver Island Wave program and former Victoria Highlander, personifies the Canadian Premier League’s philosophy of grooming local talent and providing them with professional opportunities at home.
“Sean is a young box to box central midfielder who is ready to step into a bigger role this season in our team,” said Pacific head coach James Merriman. “He has good potential and has come a long way in his development as a professional.”

Young, 20, was signed to Pacific FC in July 2020 following a lifelong journey of Vancouver Island soccer successes. From his start in Victoria and on the West Shore, Young went on to win the U16 provincials with his Vancouver Island Wave team in 2017. He spent time with both the Highlanders Reserve squad and the USL League Two, and in 2019, Young was part of the Westcastle United side that won the 2019 Jackson Cup.
The six-foot-two midfielder made 28 appearances with Pacific FC during the squad’s victorious 2022 season, racking up a total of 1,115 minutes of play and one goal. The Vic High graduate joins fellow midfielders Manny Aparicio, Matthew Baldisimo, Kunle Dada-Luke on the pitch for the coming season under the leadership of new head coach James Merriman.
“Sean is a player we have continued to challenge in our environment, and we look forward to seeing his approach this year,” said Merriman.
