CanMNT World Cup Qualifier vs. Jamaica to be played Mar. 27 at Toronto’s BMO Field

Canada Soccer announced on Friday that its final home match of the 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying campaign will be played at BMO Field in Toronto on Sunday, March 27 against Jamaica, kicking off at 4:00 p.m. ET.

This contest, Canada’s 13th match in the Octagonal stage of Concacaf WCQ and the seventh home fixture for Les Rouges, falls in the middle of a three-game window in March to close out the competition. Canada will be on the road in Costa Rica on March 24 to begin the window, and they will finish on March 30 in Panama.

This will be the fourth match Canada have played at BMO Field in the Octagonal stage, following a draw with Honduras and wins over El Salvador and Panama. Canada are undefeated in home games so far in this round, with wins over Costa Rica and Mexico in Edmonton as well as against the United States in Hamilton.

As it stands, Canada occupy first place in the eight-team standings with 25 points, putting them in pole position to qualify for Qatar 2022. They will be hoping to secure their spot in the top three — and automatic World Cup qualification — in March to book their first ticket since 1986 to the world’s biggest football competition.

Canada Soccer also indicated that ticket information for BMO Field will be released in coming weeks. The match will be broadcast on OneSoccer, as well as Sportsnet and RDS.
