After leading his Valour FC team to a 4-1-1 record in the month of August, including clean sheet victories over Cavalry FC, Forge FC, York United and Pacific FC, Phillip Dos Santos has been named the Canadian Premier League Manager of the Month.
Valour FC sweep the monthly awards, as forward Sean Rea won the league’s Player of the Month award for August.
Dos Santos, who took over as head coach in the middle of the 2021 CPL season, took Valour to within one point of the playoffs a season ago. His team is currently in a playoff spot with about a month remaining in the 2022 regular season, sitting in fourth place, and should they finish the season in that position will make the playoffs for the first time in club history.
Pacific FC’s James Merriman won the Manager of the Month award for April, Cavalry’s Tommy Wheeldon Jr. won it in May, Atlético Ottawa’s Carlos González won it in June, and Bobby Smyrniotis of Forge FC won it in July.
