The Gatorade Team of the Week for the twenty-third week of Canadian Premier League action in 2022, brought to you by Kristian Jack and OneSoccer’s Oliver Platt.
Goalkeeper
Kieran Baskett (HFX Wanderers)
Baskett kept the only clean sheet of the weekend and showed brilliant command of his area in a 1-0 victory over Valour. It is now back-to-back clean sheets for the 20-year-old as Halifax stayed mathematically alive in the CPL playoff picture.
Defenders
Chrisnovic N’sa (York United)
N’sa delivered a brilliant ball to Mo Babouli to open the scoring for York on Friday and was a threat all match down the right flank. He created four chances, had two successful dribbles, won eight duels and had a pair of interceptions as a key piece in York’s recent excellent run of form.
Diego Espejo (Atlético Ottawa)
After feeling like he was at fault the last time Atlético took on Pacific at Starlight Stadium, Espejo was immense in his return to Langford. The 20-year-old centre-back won five of six aerial duels, made five interceptions and had 11 clearances while also completing 94 per cent of his passes.
Amer Didic (Pacific FC)
Didic demonstrated his exceptional ability to hit a free kick, testing Nate Ingham in the Ottawa net in the early moments of the match before scoring from a second attempt on the final kick of the first half. Didic was also commanding as always in the air on Sunday, winning four of his five aerial duels.
Daniel Krutzen (Forge FC)
In his first match in 290 days, Daniel Krutzen looked every bit the elite-level defender that Canadian Premier League fans remembered. His distribution forward was excellent, as he made 15 passes into the final third and had a team-leading 62 touches. Defensively, he was near perfect winning all five of his duels and possession seven times, and also making six clearances.

Midfielders
Aboubacar Sissoko (Forge FC)
Sissoko scored the match-winning goal against Cavalry this weekend, following up well on an attempt from Woobens Pacius. That was a just reward for an outstanding performance that included four successful dribbles, nine duels won, and 15 passes into the final third.
Sean Young (Pacific FC)
Young was class against a very good Atleti midfield, consistently breaking lines with 23 passes into the final third and completing 51 of his 56 attempts. He also had four successful dribbles and won possession seven times.
Sam Salter (HFX Wanderers)
Salter has been absolutely automatic from the spot this season, scoring his sixth penalty of the year this past weekend to give HFX Wanderers a 1-0 win over Valour FC. This time it came against the league’s best penalty saver, Jonathan Sirois. It was also Salter’s 10th goal of the season, as he remains heavily in the Golden Boot race.
David Choinière (Forge FC)
Forge has been looking for a spark offensively over the past few weeks, and finally got it through Choinière. He opened the scoring at Tim Hortons Field through an outstanding individual effort and created two other chances over the course of 90 minutes.

Mo Babouli (York United)
Babouli picked up a brace during another man-of-the-match level performance for York United. In his four starts this season, York have now scored nine goals, and there is no question that their new number #10 has been the catalyst of this offensive breakout.
Forwards
Osaze De Rosario (York United)
De Rosario is now the all-time leading goalscorer in York United history with his 11th goal of the CPL season, proving to be the winner against FC Edmonton this weekend. The young forward now leads all active players in the league in scoring and is two behind Alejandro Diaz for the league’s Golden Boot lead.
