Cavalry FC announced on Tuesday that Honduran winger José Escalante has been granted a leave of absence from the club, issuing the following statement:
On Monday, June 26, Cavalry FC granted José Escalante’s request to take a leave of absence from the club for personal reasons, to be close to his family in Honduras. The player remains contracted to the club through to at least December 31, 2023, with a 2024 club option. Any reports to the contrary are false.
Cavalry is grateful to José for his service to the club and community, and to our fans for participating in the celebration of his 100th match on Saturday.
Any official Cavalry roster announcements will be made via official club channels.
The 28-year-old’s last match with the Calgary-based CPL club was on Saturday, when the Cavs defeated York United FC at ATCO Field in what was also Escalante’s 100th match for the club.
