WATCH: Alphonso Davies scores first goal for Bayern Munich

Alphonso Davies opened his Bayern Munich account on Sunday, scoring the German club’s sixth and final goal in a 6-0 rout of Mainz 05.

The 18-year-old’s placed shot in the 70th minute came a few minutes after he replaced David Alaba. The goal made Davies the youngest Bayern goalscorer since 2000.

The win put the six-time reigning German champions atop the Bundesliga table on 60 points, edging out Borussia Dortmund on goal-difference.

Davies was named to Bayern’s UEFA Champions League roster ahead of the tournament’s knockout stage but didn’t feature.

The former Vancouver Whitecaps attacker was transferred to Bayern Munich last summer on an MLS-record transfer fee that could total more than $22-million US.

The Edmonton native has been called up to Canadian men’s national team ahead of its final CONCACAF Nations League qualifier against French Guiana on Sunday.
