The Canadian men’s national team will take on Mexico in the Concacaf Nations League semi-final on Thursday, Mar. 20 at SoFi Stadium in California.
Canada have not lost in their last three matches against El Tri, most recently meeting in a friendly on Sept. 10 which they drew 0-0.
With a 3-0 victory against Suriname at BMO Field on Tuesday night, Canada not only secured a spot in the semis, but will enter them as the top seed after finishing with a +4 goal difference and six points in the quarter-finals.
Later on Tuesday night, Mexico won 4-0 in Toluca to storm back from down 2-0 to Honduras on aggregate and advance from their quarter-final. March will mark the first time Canada and Mexico have met in the Nations League.
The other semi-final will feature the United States and Panama. The winners of each semi-final will play each other in the Concacaf Nations League Final on March 23, also at SoFi Stadium. The losers will face off earlier that same day in the third-place match.
The United States have won all three previous editions of the Concacaf Nations League, including defeating Canada in the final of the 2022-23 competition. That was the only previous time that Canada reached the Nations League final four.
After an outstanding 2024, Canada will be keen to begin 2025 with their first trophy since winning the 2000 Gold Cup.
