Brennan refrains from weighing in on Bekker, Di Chiara incident

York9 FC head coach Jimmy Brennan appeared to hold back from sharing his thoughts on a collision between Forge FC’s Kyle Bekker and Nine Stripes midfield enforcer Joe Di Chiara.

The incident, which occurred in the 63rd minute of the Canadian Premier League’s inaugural match at Tim Hortons Field, saw Bekker and Di Chiara come together on the touchline, drawing the ire of the York9 bench.

And, while the collision was met only with a warning and a continuation of play, Brennan couldn’t avoid the talking point in the post-match press conference.

Calmly, though, Brennan stated only that his thoughts on the subject weren’t sharable.

“You know what, I would love to dive into these questions with you, speak my mind of what I think, but these are the ones that I can’t,” Brennan told reporters, when asked about the incident.

“Once you start talking about the referees and the way the game goes, it’s not good. I’m only asking for trouble.

“But I know what you’re getting at, so I’ll give you a little wink for that.”
