WINNIPEG – Valour FC announced the signing of Spanish midfielder José Galán to a contract on Monday.
Galan, 33, joins Valour FC from Saudi Arabian club Al-Jabalian FC (Saudi, 2nd Tier) where he spent the 2018-19 season.
The midfielder has spent the majority of his career playing in Spain, signing first in 2005 with Atlético Madrid’s C team (4th tier Spanish division). In 2006, he joined CD Toledo (Tercera Division), then inked a deal in 2007 with Almería B (4th tier Spanish division) where he played until 2010.
“Galan is a very interesting addition for us and brings a wealth of experience and quality as a holding midfield player,” said Valour FC Head Coach & GM, Rob Gale. “He has the ability to break up the opposition and use the ball very well in line with the style of football we play.”
Galán made a return to his youth club, Cultural Leonesa, in 2012, but less than a year later joined the Thai Premier League, signing with Chainat FC. Between the 2014 and 2018 seasons, he made stops at Pro Duta FC (Indonesia), and SKN St. Pölten (Austrian Football First League) and also played in Romania, Cyprus, Finland and Hong Kong before landing at Al-Jabalain.
Valour will kick off their CPL Fall season on Wednesday on the road against FC Edmonton (9:00 p.m. ET/7:00 p.m. MT, OneSoccer).
