WATCH: Waterman sent off, Carducci saves penalty in wild Leg 1 sequence

Cavalry FC is down to 10 men … but not down a goal in the 1st Leg of the 2019 Canadian Premier League Finals against Forge FC.

Calgary defender Joel Waterman was shown a straight red card in 39th-minute when a slide tackle in the box on Tristan Borges saw the ball make contact with his arm. As the last man back, the “denial of a goal-scoring opportunity (DOGSO)” rule sees him sent off for the infraction, opening the door for Tristan Borges to place the ball on the spot and try for goal.

BUT – the resulting penalty was saved dramatically by Canadian international Marco Carducci, who dove to his right and kicked the ball away at the last second with his right foot. Talk about a wild sequence!
