Valour FC signs Julian Dunn and Dante Campbell on loan from Toronto FC

Valour FC made a pair of roster additions on Monday, revealing that fullback/midfielder Dante Campbell and Julian Dunn will be joining the Winnipeg-based club on loan from Toronto FC.

Dunn, a 20-year-old native of Toronto, came up through TFC’s youth academy before making his debut for TFC II in the USL in 2017. Dunn made his MLS debut for Toronto FC the following year, thus becoming the 18th homegrown player to sign for the first team from the academy

He’s also featured for Canada’s national team at several youth levels (U-17, U-20 and U-23), and was named to the Canadian U-23 provisional roster for the 2020 Concacaf Olympic Qualifying Championship before the tournament was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Campbell, a 21-year-old from Etobicoke, Ont., has played for TFC II since 2016. He played the majority of his youth soccer in the TFC academy, also appearing 30 times in League1 Ontario for Toronto FC III (for whom he scored nine goals).

He also has represented Canada internationally at several youth levels, appearing in matches for the U-17, U-18, and U-20 teams. Campbell will be very familiar with Valour coach Rob Gale, having played under him at several international camps including the 2017 Concacaf Men’s U-20 Championship in Costa Rica.

Campbell played for Canada’s U-20s alongside new Valour teammate (and former TFC II teammate) Shaan Hundal. He is a strong player on both sides of the ball, who is capable of lining up at right-back and in central midfield.

Both Dunn and Campbell followed the league’s health and safety self-isolation protocols prior to departing for The Island Games in Charlottetown.

With this announcement, Valour’s squad is now at 23 total players, with 17 new faces joining Gale’s roster for the 2020 season.
