The Canadian Premier League’s #GotGame Open Trials is, as the name states, open for any prospective professional soccer player to come out and showcase their skills in front of the league’s head coaches, in the hopes of potentially earning a spot in a preseason camp.

But when This Hour Has 22 Minutes star Trent McClellan appeared at Wickwire Field of Dalhousie University for Day 1 of the Open Trials in Halifax, Valour FC head coach Rob Gale and Cavalry FC bench boss Tommy Wheeldon Jr. made sure to pay a little extra attention and properly put him through his paces, with Ryan Smyth of data analytics company Kinduct taking the Canadian comedian through some physical assessment drills before he was let loose in front of goal.

“What I liked about him,” Wheeldon Jr. offered, of McClellan, “he’s like an out-of-shape Roberto Carlos.”
