Valour FC, Nestor Monge mutually agree to part ways ahead of 2021 season

Valour FC and midielder Nestor Monge have mutually agreed to terminate the latter’s contract, citing delays in the visa process.

The Winnipeg club, who initally signed the Costa Rican midfielder in Feburary, announced the decison Thursday after Monge attempted to enter Canada ahead of the 2021 CPL season.

Monge, a 31-year-old with six international caps for Costa Rica (most recently against the United States in 2019), last played with ADR Jicaral in the top flight of his native country.

In 11 seasons in Costa Rica, Monge has scored 10 goals and added 12 assists. He’s also made eight appearances in the Concacaf Champions League, playing in the continent’s top club competition for both Saprissa and Cartaginés.
