2021 CPL Final: Tentative dates set for championship match next weekend

The Canadian Premier League has released match details for the 2021 Final following the completion of regular season play on Tuesday.

Two clubs will move on to the one-match final following semi-final matches this weekend; Cavalry FC (2nd) hosting Pacific FC (3rd) at ATCO Field on Saturday, Nov. 20 (3 pm ET/1 pm MT, live on OneSoccer) and Forge FC (1st) hosting York United FC (4th) at Tim Hortons Field on Sunday, Nov. 21 (3 pm ET, live on OneSoccer).

The 2021 CPL Final matchup will be announced immediately following the Forge-York United semi-final. Preliminary match details are as follows, based on which team (the highest-seeded club remaining) is set to host:

Cavalry FC, Pacific FC: Saturday, November 27
Forge FC: Sunday, November 28*

* If the CFL’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats are confirmed to host the CFL Eastern Semi-Final on Nov. 28 and Forge FC advances, the CPL Final will be played at Tim Hortons Field on Sunday, December 5.

Extra time in effect; extra substitution permitted for 2021 CPL Playoffs

All three matches of the 2021 CPL Playoffs will use extra time, meaning if a game ends in a draw the teams will play two 15-minute periods to decide the winner. If the score is still tied after extra time, the teams will play out a penalty shoot-out to determine the winner.

As well, clubs will be permitted to use a sixth substitution exclusively during extra time.

The 2021 CPL Playoffs kickoff Saturday afternoon in Calgary, Alberta when Cavalry takes on Pacific at ATCO Field at Spruce Meadows (3 pm ET/1 pm MT live on OneSoccer).
