On Thursday, Dec. 5, all eight Canadian Premier League clubs will convene once again for the sixth annual CPL-U SPORTS Draft, presented by Degree.

This year’s draft will consist of 16 total picks over two rounds — two selections each per club. Valour FC have the first overall pick for a second consecutive year, with the full order being determined by the 2024 regular season standings and order of elimination in the playoffs. A total of 184 players have declared for the draft, which is open to any U SPORTS underclassmen with one to four years of U SPORTS eligibility remaining, provided they are in good standing with their school’s athletic program and education institution and are planning to return to school the following year.

Players drafted may be invited to their CPL club’s preseason training, where they can compete for a roster spot. Clubs can sign up to three CPL-U SPORTS contracts to their development roster, which do not count toward the player compensation budget.
