Atlético Ottawa has today confirmed that the contract of Canadian defender Zachary Roy has been extended for the 2024 Canadian Premier League (CPL) season with an option to extend until the end of 2025.
Roy, 20, joined Ottawa in 2022 and was part of the squad that lifted the Canadian Premier League Shield. The Saint-Burno, QC native has 17 appearances for the club, including against Pacific FC in the 2022 CPL Playoffs.
“I’m so happy to be back here, back home,” said Roy. “This will be my third year with the club now and it’s a club and city with who I feel really at home and happy. It’s a big year for me and I’m committed to giving everything. Preseason has been fantastic so far, it’s really competitive but the group we have get along well off the pitch too. There are a lot of francophone players which is great. We’re all working really hard to make this a great season.”
