Get ready. The eCPL is here and it’s coming to EA Sports FIFA 20.
The CPL launched the inaugural eCanadian Premier League (eCPL) tournament on Friday, giving CPL clubs the chance to sign competitive eSports players.
But before we get there, tryouts will take place this Spring, hosted by CPL teams in their home city and online.
The eCPL will kick off February 29th on opposite coasts, on Vancouver Island with Pacific FC hosting an in-house tournament in Langford and with HFX Wanderers holding an online weekend qualifier. Winners from those qualifiers and the other 14 tournaments will play in the eCPL Final, which will be played in Toronto on May 9 and be broadcasted live on OneSoccer and Twitch.
The eCPL Final winner will play in the EA SPORTS™ FIFA 20 Global Series alongside the world’s best in competitive FIFA, and earn $10,000 CAD.

“Partnering with EA for the first all-Canadian eCPL league is another proud moment for us,” CPL commissioner David Clanachan said.
“Reaching the global audience through FIFA gamers and the Esports competition is an incredible opportunity for us and in-line with our mission to develop good young Canadian players and open the doors of opportunities in the world of professional football – we see this competition as an extension of that and can’t wait too kick-off on 29 February.”
“The EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Global Series is the esport for the world’s game and we are pleased to bring league competition to Canada, one of our most important markets,” said Sam Turkbas FIFA Competitive Gaming Deputy Commissioner.
Registration for the tournament will open on February 15, 2020 and is open to Playstation 4 players.
Performing well in the eCPL will also earn players the bonus of valuable season-long EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Global Series Points used to qualify for the EA SPORTS FIFA 20 Global Series Playoffs.
