CanChamp: Forge hosts CF Montreal, Pacific travels to Toronto FC in upcoming semi finals

The Golden Horseshoe will welcome both 2021 Canadian Championship semi-final clashes later this Fall, Canada Soccer announced Wednesday, revealing Forge FC will host MLS side CF Montreal at Tim Hortons Field on Wednesday, October 27 while Pacific FC travels to BMO Field for a visit with another MLS side in Toronto FC a week later on Wednesday, November 3.

The winners of the two semi-finals matches will advance to the 2021 Canadian Championship Final, with a date and location to be announced in November.

Pacific earned their first semis berth in club history by taking down Cavalry FC 1-0 at Spruce Meadows earlier this month. That was followed up by a rather famous first-round giant-killing of another MLS side in the Vancouver Whitecaps by a score of 4-3 at Starlight Stadium in August.

Forge, who beat Valour FC in the quarterfinal stage to earn their first semis berth as well, learned their CanChamp fate hours after defeating Panama side C.A. Independiente in the Round of 16 of the 2021 Concacaf League, advancing to the quarterfinal stage in the process. CPL announced Wednesday changes to the 2021 regular season schedule are on the way to accommodate the extras matches for Forge in both competitions.

No CPL club has featured in a CanChamp final, though Forge is slated to in a since-postponed abridged 2020 edition.

Winners of the Canadian Championship represent Canada in the Concacaf Champions League. Toronto FC has won the Voyageurs Cup the most with seven titles since its modern history began in 2008.
