The Canadian men’s national team will be back on home soil on Oct. 15, where they will meet Concacaf opponent Panama in an international friendly at Toronto’s BMO Field.
It is the first time Canada has played a home match since November 2023, when they faced Jamaica in the Concacaf Nations League, also at BMO Field. The match will be available to watch live on OneSoccer.
Both Canada and Panama are coming off impressive performances at the 2024 Copa América this summer. Canada went on an impressive run, reaching the final four and losing on penalties to Uruguay in the third-place match. Panama, meanwhile, stunned the United States and Bolivia to get out of their group, before being humbled 5-0 by Colombia in the quarter-finals.
Panama are currently ranked 35th in the world, ahead of Canada who moved up to 40th after their Copa América performance.
The two sides last met at BMO Field on Oct. 13, 2021 during 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, resulting in a famous 4-1 victory for Canada — a game where Alphonso Davies scored THAT goal.
Canada Soccer also revealed that BMO Field will host the home leg of CanMNT’s November Concacaf Nations League quarter-final on Tuesday, Nov. 19. Their opponent for that tie will be determined during September and October’s group stage matchups. As a top-four team in Concacaf, Canada were given a bye to the quarter-final round.
Panama might also not be the only friendly that Canada plays during the October window, as the federation revealed they are actively in discussions surrounding a second friendly.
Canada are currently preparing for a pair of September friendlies against the United States on Saturday, Sept. 7 in Kansas City and against Mexico on Tuesday, Sept. 10 in Texas.
