CanMNT to play friendly at Montréal’s Stade Saputo in October

Canada Soccer announced on Friday that the Canadian men’s national team return to Montréal in October for a friendly match against a yet-to-be-confirmed opponent.

The match takes place on Oct. 10, 2025 at Stade Saputo. Canada’s opposition will be confirmed following the results of upcoming out-of-region World Cup qualifying matches.

They also announced that Montréal will serve as the host city for Canada’s final preparations before the 2026 FIFA World Cup. Stade Saputo will host a final send-off match prior to the competition in the early part of June 2026 — with opponent again dependent on World Cup qualifying results and the tournament’s draw.

The men’s national team was last in Montréal in October for a preparation camp before taking on Panama in an international friendly at Toronto’s BMO Field. As part of those preparations they also played MLS’s CF Montréal in a behind-closed-doors friendly match.

“Our experience in Montréal last October was incredible,” said men’s national team head coach Jesse Marsch in a press release. “The energy of the fans, the passion in the city, and the engagement we saw from the local soccer community were all top-class. Hosting the final send-off at Stade Saputo will be a huge part of our preparation for the World Cup, and I know our players will be excited to be back in Montréal in a competitive environment again.”

Canada Soccer had previously announced a pair of European friendlies in the September window. They travel to Bucharest to take on Romania on Sept. 5, before a clash with Wales in Swansea on Sept. 9. Both of those matches will be available live on OneSoccer.
