Canada’s men’s national team has learned its opening opponent in the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup knockout rounds.

Haiti’s 2-1 win over Costa Rica at Red Bull Arena in New Jersey on Monday put them top of Group B and, in turn, alongside the Group A runners-up Canadians in the Quarterfinals.

A late winner by Djimy Alexis reversed an early own goal from the Haitian fullback, who gave Haiti its first-ever win over Costa Rica at the men’s level.

Canada will take to the Haitians in Houston on Saturday. The winner will face either Costa Rica or Mexico in the Semi-finals on July 2.
