Canada Soccer confirmed on Thursday afternoon that the Canadian men’s national team will be coming to Hamilton, Ontario in January to continue its 2022 FIFA World Cup Qualifying campaign.
On January 30, 2022, Canada will take to the pitch at Tim Hortons Field, home of the CPL’s Forge FC, to take on the United States in their lone home date of the three-match qualifying window. The game will come right in the middle of a January 27 trip to play Honduras and a February 2 game in El Salvador.
The men’s national team returns to Ontario after spending its previous international window in Edmonton, Alberta, where they defeated both Costa Rica and Mexico at Commonwealth Stadium to move into first place in Concacaf’s eight-team final round of World Cup Qualifying for Qatar 2022.
“We are excited to bring the Men’s National Team FIFA World Cup Qualifiers match to Hamilton in January with the team riding a nation-wide wave of support at the top of the table and after an incredible display from Edmontonians in November,” said Canada Soccer president Nick Bontis in a statement.
This will be the second-last home game of Canada’s World Cup Qualifying campaign, with one final home date against Jamaica to be played in the last window of games on March 27.
