A continental rivalry will be renewed on Wednesday, July 2 when the Canadian women’s national team and United States women’s national team meet in the Allstate Continental Clásico.
The match, an international friendly, will be played at Audi Field in Washington D.C. The United States are currently the world’s top-ranked team after winning the Olympic Gold in Paris this past summer.
“Facing the Olympic champions will be a great test for us,” said Canadian women’s national team head coach Casey Stoney. “They were the best in the world in 2024 and will challenge us in areas we have not been tested in yet this year.”
The match will be the first time that Stoney leads the team against the United States, and compatriot Emma Hayes.
The past two meetings between the two countries were incredibly tight, both going to penalty shootouts following 2-2 regulation results in the 2024 Concacaf W Gold Cup semi-final and 2024 SheBelieves Cup Final. The United States ultimately prevailed on both occasions.
Canada Soccer also announced that the window will feature an additional match against a second opponent, which will be announced at a later date.
