Cavalry FC manager Tommy Wheeldon Jr. has been named the league’s Manager of the Month for August of 2023.

Wheeldon Jr.’s Cavalry side rose to the top of the Canadian Premier League table during the month, winning three of four matches. That included a dominant 3-0 victory over rivals Forge FC on August 4 — one of two clean sheets during the month.

In total, Cavalry scored eight goals and allowed just four against. They have the most goals scored (36) and are tied for the fewest against in the entire league this season (24). They finished August four points clear at the top of the CPL table, a margin which they have maintained.

Wheeldon Jr. is the fifth different manager to be honoured this season, following Bobby Smyrniotis of Forge in April, Pacific’s James Merriman in May, Halifax coach Patrice Gheisar in June and Atlético Ottawa’s Carlos González in July.
