Concacaf announces initial rosters for 2025 Champions Cup

Concacaf announced on Wednesday the official squad lists for the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup, which kicks off next week on Tuesday, Feb. 4.

All 27 teams competing have submitted rosters of up to 35 players, and are allowed to add additional players (up to a maximum of 35) up until 44 hours before each match. Players that have been registered may not be removed or replaced, and clubs must name a squad of 18-23 players from their 35-man roster for each match.

The two Canadian Premier League outfits competing in the tournament, Cavalry FC and Forge FC, named squads of 23 and 18, respectively.

Cavalry announced simultaneously that the club has signed goalkeeper Neven Fewster and midfielders Josh Belbin and James McGlinchey to CPL development contracts ahead of the 2025 campaign, and all three were named to the Concacaf roster. The team also confirmed that it has mutually terminated the contract of forward Lowell Wright.

Meanwhile, Forge’s roster mostly comprises players previously announced, including newcomers Dan Nimick, Brian Wright and Mo Babouli. They have also added 18-year-old goalkeeper Emmanuel Marmolejo to the group for the Champions Cup.

Elsewhere, there are few surprises from the other competing clubs; Inter Miami have registered all their veteran superstars including Lionel Messi, Luis Suárez and Sergio Busquets, while the Vancouver Whitecaps have named 23 players including Canadian men’s national team players Sam Adekugbe and Ali Ahmed.

Cavalry and Forge’s first-round opponents, Pumas UNAM and CF Monterrey, have announced squads of 28 and 23 players, respectively.
