The CPL’s reigning Goalkeeper of the Year backstopped Forge FC to yet another impressive season this year in 2021 – leading by example at the back.

Henry, 28, recorded eight clean sheets in league play – adding to his CPL all-time lead with 22 across three seasons – as the former Sigma FC grad guided Bobby Smyrniotis to a third CPL Final across a gruelling 34-match stretch. This play was enough to earn Henry a nomination for Goalkeeper of the Year at the CPL Awards held earlier this week – his third such designation in as many years.

Henry’s true value, though, showed continentally. The Scarborough native was immense match-over-match in Concacaf League, racking up four clean sheets in eight matches played. There were big performances in the 2-0 win away to Independiente or the massive 3-0 win at home over Santos FC that ensured Concacaf Champions League football in Hamilton for 2022. Most recently, Henry earned man-of-the-match honours in their nil-nil semi-final second leg away to Motagua.

It’s been quite the ride for Forge’s no. one ‘keeper, who will look to build on his time in the CPL next year against some of the continent’s best.

The rest of the CPL50 countdown is available here. Five more players will be revealed per day until December 22.
