Perhaps one of the best mid-season signings in the CPL this year, Woobens Pacius was a revelation for Forge FC in 2021. Though he only signed for the club on August 8, he went on to make 18 league appearances, collecting six goals and two assists.

Despite being just 20 years old and playing at the professional level for the first time, the Terrebonne, Quebec native has excellent composure in front of goal and a good striker’s instinct, which made him a good finisher at the head of Forge’s attack. He can score with both feet and with his head, making dangerous runs into the box to get on the end of crosses and through balls from midfield. As a result of that lethal skillset, Pacius logged the fifth-highest expected goals per 90 minutes (excluding penalties) in the CPL this year.

Pacius made an impact for Forge in every competition they played this year; his goal opened the scoring in the CPL semi-final against York United, and he scored the winner against Valour FC in the Canadian Championship. Plus, he appeared in six Concacaf League matches during that campaign.

Though he didn’t get the start in the CPL Final, Pacius was one of the first options Bobby Smyrniotis turned to when his side needed a goal. With such a consistent goalscoring record, Pacius made a name for himself as one of the most exciting young strikers in the Canadian Premier League — with a bright future ahead of him.
