FC Edmonton announced another addition to its 2022 roster on Thursday, revealing that the club has signed winger Masta Kacher.
The 26-year-old Kacher has 17 games of CPL experience under his belt, all of them spent at Valour FC over the past two seasons. He played 12 times for the Winnipeg club in 2021, including one
appearance in the Canadian Championship, though he missed the final 13 games with an injury. The midfielder proved to be a versatile player for Valour, lining up in multiple different positions across the pitch.
Kacher first signed for Valour in 2020 from USL side Saint Louis FC, having previously played at that level for Real Monarchs, Colorado Springs Switchbacks, and FC Montreal — making 122 total USL Championship appearances. He played most of his youth football in the Montreal Impact (now CF Montreal) academy, first joining their professional reserve side in 2015.
“Masta is a player who has had some impressive performances and phases in his career,” said FC Edmonton coach Alan Koch. “We look forward to working with him and getting his game back to his top level. Masta is the type of player that fans in Edmonton will be able to get behind, as he comes into our environment with an opportunity to show that he can be a top creative player in this league.”
The Eddies now have six players officially signed for 2022, with Kacher joining an attack that already includes Tobias Warschewski and Julian Ulbricht. He’s the third newcomer to the squad so far as FCE build their roster for 2022.
FC Edmonton will kick the season off at home on Sunday April 10 against Valour FC at 2 pm MT at Clarke Stadium.
