Forge FC announces Concacaf League, CPL schedule changes
Forge FC

Concacaf announced Friday that both legs of Forge FC’s 2021 Scotiabank Concacaf League Preliminary Round matchup against Club Deportivo Futbolistas Asociados Santanecos (C.D. FAS) will now take place at Estadio Cuscatlan in San Salvador, El Salvador on Thursday, August 12 at 8 p.m. ET and Tuesday, August 17 at 10:15 p.m. ET.

The location for the first leg of the matchup, originally booked for August 4 in Hamilton, has been rescheduled due to federal government border regulations currently in place due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Forge FC, Canada Soccer and Concacaf will continue to work with the federal government and provincial and municipal public health authorities on travel policies, procedures and requirements for foreign teams entering Canada for the next round of the competition in late-September should Forge FC advance.

As a result of this change, the Canadian Premier League has rescheduled two Forge FC games, moving the club’s Wednesday, September 29 home match against York United to August 4 at 7 p.m., and the Friday, August 13 away match between the two clubs at York Lions Stadium to Wednesday, September 29 at 7:30 p.m.

Forge FC’s official return to Tim Hortons Field for CPL play will be now be the August 4 match, but the club will still formally celebrate its back-to-back CPL championships by unveiling the recognition of those achievements prior to kickoff on Sunday, August 8 against Atlético Ottawa at 1 p.m. as was previously announced with the full CPL schedule release.
