On Tuesday, Forge FC announced the signing of Mexican defender Daniel Parra on loan from Liga MX side CF Monterrey for the 2024 Canadian Premier League season.
“We are excited to welcome Daniel Parra to Forge FC,” said Bobby Smyrniotis, Head Coach & Sporting Director of Forge FC. “He will not only strengthen our backline but also brings invaluable experience as we look to win another Canadian Premier League title and earn a place in the 2025 Concacaf Champions Cup.”
Parra, 24, joins Forge FC from Liga MX side CF Monterrey providing a ton of experience across several competitions. The relentless defender spent nine seasons with the club (2016-2024) making 38 appearances with the senior team across all competitions and 72 appearances with the U-20 youth setup, and went on to win a Liga MX, a Concacaf Champions Cup and a Copa MX title in his first season with the first team of CF Monterrey in the 2019-2020 season.
During his time with CF Monterrey, Parra was loaned out to Mexican side Club Necaxa in the 2022-2023 Liga MX Apertura season and later joined Club Atletico Morelia of the Liga Expansion MX, making 21 appearances and scoring four goals.
