Goalkeeper

Callum Irving (Pacific FC)

Despite the loss to Valour, Irving delivered another excellent road performance. He made six saves, including an outstanding double-stop on Rocco Romeo to keep his side in the match throughout.

Defenders

Wesley Timoteo (FC Edmonton)

Timoteo’s thunderous strike off both posts led to Edmonton opening the scoring on Sunday. He helped to create two other chances during the match, while completing 16 passes into the final third to earn a second straight appearance in the team of the week.
Rocco Romeo (Valour FC)

The central defender provided one of the biggest goals of Valour’s season and easily could have had another as he got himself into good positions on set pieces all afternoon against Pacific. He was also solid defensively, winning five aerial duels and making seven clearances to help Valour earn a clean sheet.
Diego Espejo (Atlético Ottawa)

During one of Ottawa’s best defensive performances of the season, which is saying something, Espejo was excellent. He completed 97 per cent of his passes and lost possession just once, which was critical against a Forge side who were looking for any and every opportunity to counter-press Ottawa and force them into mistakes.
Andy Baquero (Valour FC)

Baquero was all-action for Valour up and down his flank all match against Pacific, making three tackles and three attempted dribbles while also getting a shot on target and making five crosses.

Midfielders

Ollie Bassett (Atlético Ottawa)

It was another standout performance from the man who has led Ottawa all season against Forge. Bassett created two chances while making 25 passes into the final third and eight crosses. Defensively, he put in quite the shift as well winning the ball back four times in the Forge third.
Abdou Sissoko (Atlético Ottawa)

A key part of the excellent performances from Bassett and other Ottawa midfielders this season has been the studying presence of Sissoko. He was every bit that against Forge on the weekend, completing 95 per cent of his passes, and winning two tackles as he helped to keep his Atleti side organized.
Samuel Salter (HFX Wanderers)

Salter has become nearly automatic from the penalty spot for Halifax this season, scoring his fifth of the season from the spot against Edmonton. It was his ninth overall, as he moves up into a tie for third in the CPL Golden Boot race.
José Escalante (Cavalry FC)

Escalante’s calm finish secured a critical three points for Cavalry as they move up into second in the CPL table after a 1-0 victory against York United. He also won possession back three times in the final third during yet another active performance.

Sean Rea (Valour FC)

Rea is another player who has become something of a fixture in the team of the week and earned the honour again after an excellent performance against Pacific. It was his corner kick that led to Romeo’s goal, as Rea created two other chances and had nine total crosses during the match, also winning three fouls.

Forwards

Tobias Warschewski (FC Edmonton)

Sunday was absolutely the best version of Tobias Warschewski as he led Edmonton to victory over Halifax. The Edmonton striker had two goals, including a worldie that stood as the match winner. He also had six attempted dribbles, and contested 13 duels during the match, winning four fouls.
