Forge FC and Cavalry FC dominated the first Island Games Team of the Week, fuelled by G.
As chosen by OneSoccer, the first XI features five members of Forge (Kwame Awuah, Daniel Krutzen, Kyle Bekker, Triston Henry, and Alexander Achinioti-Jönsson) and four Cavalry players (Dean Northover Dominick Zator, Marcus Haber, and Mo Farsi).
Krutzen, Henry, Achinioti-Jönsson were rock solid at the back in Week 1 of the regular season in holding FC Edmonton to a clean sheet, while Awuah and Bekker scored for Forge – the former’s goal being a pick of the lot.
Zator and Haber converted headers for Cavalry, while newcomer Farsi and Year 1 standout Northover contributed great service from out wide.
Farsi, 20, makes the team of the week after just two appearances in the CPL.
Pacific FC’s Marco Bustos and Atlético Ottawa’s Francisco Acuña also made the list, which covered the first five matches of the 2020 CPL season.
Acuña, 32, impressed in his Ottawa debut, earning an assist in the his side’s second goal. Bustos scored in his first game for Pacific before being subbed off in the 82nd minute.
