Goalkeeper

Callum Irving (Vancouver FC)

Irving stole the show in the final Salish Sea Derby of the season, making some ridiculous saves to preserve a 2-1 victory for Vancouver. He made six saves in total and now leads the league in saves made with 85 this year.

Defenders

Rezart Rama (Forge FC)

Rama has been outstanding since his shift to right central defender and put in another strong performance against Halifax this weekend. That included a team-leading 93 touches, winning possession 12 times, making three interceptions and three clearances, including an incredible goal-line backheel to deny Halifax a goal.

Noah Abatneh (York United)

In York’s most important match of the season to date, the central defender, who just turned 19 last week, stood tall. Abatneh completed a tidy 61 of his 65 passes, won three of four duels and made two tackles during a quality performance.

Rocco Romeo (Vancouver FC)

Romeo as ever was a rock at the back for Vancouver this weekend. He made nine clearances and completed 45 of his 52 passes as he helped Vancouver to a big derby victory.

Gareth Smith-Doyle (Cavalry FC)

Smith-Doyle scored his first Canadian Premier League goal, which ended up also being the match-winner against Valour, with a lovely near-post finish. The 21-year-old had three shots in total, completed all 17 of his passes, and attempted four dribbles during a strong showing at left wingback.

Midfielders

Lorenzo Callegari (Halifax Wanderers)

As Halifax clinched a playoff spot on Saturday, Callegari pulled the strings in midfield during a 2-1 win over Forge FC. He created three chances, and 42 of 46 passes, having played a stunning 1,900 passes in total this season.

Vasco Fry (Vancouver FC)

Fry scored the winner in the Salish Sea Derby on Saturday as Vancouver stunned Pacific 2-1 on the road. In particular, check out the behind-the-net angle of this strike to see how sweetly it was struck by the Vancouver midfielder. He also created three chances during a strong performance.

Gabriel Bitar (Vancouver FC)

Bitar has been one of the league’s best players over the past few weeks and again was outstanding in Vancouver’s victory over rivals Pacific. He scored the opener, added an assist on the second, completed four of five dribbles and won ten of fifteen duels.

Massimo Ferrin (Halifax Wanderers)

Ferrin scored his third goal in four matches this season against Forge FC, opening the scoring in the 12th minute with an impressive header. The 24-year-old now has an impressive seven goals and three assists in his first Canadian Premier League season.

Sergio Camargo (Cavalry FC)

Camargo was the focal point of the Cavalry FC attack again on Friday. He opened the scoring after some outstanding combination play with Ali Musse, before setting up Smith-Doyle’s goal with a clever ball played forward.

Forwards

Kévin Dos Santos (York United)

Dos Santos came off the bench on Sunday to score the decisive goal in York’s massive victory over Atlético Ottawa. His incredible dribbling ability was on full display during the match, as he completed three of four dribbles including a sensational nutmeg in the lead-up to his 88th-minute goal.
