Halifax Wanderers forward João Morelli underwent successful surgery on Friday, June 24, to repair an injury to his ACL.

“This is an important milestone for João on his road to recovery, and we’re all delighted it was a success,” Wanderers sporting director Matt Fegan said.

“At the advice of his surgeon, João took some time after returning home to strengthen the knee in preparation for the surgery and the treatment he’ll continue to do now that he is home. He’ll continue to get our full support on his route back to the pitch, taking the time to do what is right for his career. We’re looking forward to having João back to doing what he does best in a Wanderers shirt in 2023.”

Morelli will remain at home in Brazil to rehabilitate and prepare for a return to the club in the 2023 Canadian Premier League season.
