LSSE, Saskatchewan Soccer Association reveal winner of Soccer Town Saskatchewan competition

The Saskatchewan Soccer Association and Living Sky Sports and Entertainment (the organization that has been granted exclusive rights to a CPL club in Saskatoon) announced on Tuesday that Moose Mountain Soccer Club (MMSC) of Carlyle, SK has won the Soccer Town Saskatchewan competition for 2021.

By winning the contest, MMSC will receive $5,000 toward facility upgrades and equipment. The club won the title of Soccer Town Saskatchewan through the month-long competition, which asked youth and amateur soccer organizations in the province to submit video clips demonstrating their passion for the game and support for the CPL to come to Saskatchewan with an expansion team.

Two runners-up, Saskatoon Youth Soccer Inc. and Weyburn Soccer Association, received prizes of $25o. MMSC came out ahead in a pool of 15 total organizations who entered the contest from across the province.

“Moose Mountain Soccer Club was thrilled to hear that Carlyle had been crowned ‘Soccer Town Saskatchewan’ for 2021,” said Scott Kirkness, media coordinator of MMSC. “We look forward to using the prize money to upgrade our facilities and continue to grow the beautiful game in the Southeast. MMSC believes that a CPL team in Saskatoon would be spectacular for the people of this fine province, and we fully support the construction of a stadium to facilitate such a dream.”

Al Simpson, founder of LSSE and leader of the bid to bring a CPL side to Saskatoon, added: “Living Sky Sports and Entertainment is proud to have sponsored Soccer Town Saskatchewan. The level of participation and support for a new soccer stadium in Saskatoon by soccer clubs throughout the province is tremendous, as evidenced by the quality and passion of the video submissions.”

The CPL announced previously that LSSE has been given the rights to a club in Saskatoon, contingent upon the building of a soccer-specific stadium in the city.
