League1 BC announced the appointment of Mark Rogers as Managing Director on Wednesday, effective immediately as the league’s fourth season approaches.
He joins the league from Canadian Premier League side Vancouver FC, where he was Managing Director for the club’s first two seasons, and involved since before the club even kicked a ball.
“Playing my part in launching Vancouver FC has been a highlight of my career, and an experience I will never forget,” said Rogers in a press release. “I am thankful to every player, staff, fan and member of the VFC family for making my experience over the past two years what it was, and I am pleased to know we will continue to cross paths as I take on my new role at League1 BC.”
Rogers grew up in Tsawwassen, B.C. before embarking on a professional career in England. He was a Canada international in the early 2000s, and was a men’s national team assistant coach in 2013, in addition to coaching both the men’s and women’s programs at the University of British Columbia Thunderbirds and within BC Soccer’s provincial program.
“Mark has been a faithful champion of this club since well before its official inception and we are grateful for all the effort he put into laying the groundwork for our current and future success,” said Rob Friend, President and CEO of Vancouver FC, in a press release.
“Mark excels in his ability to build relationships within the local soccer community. We are incredibly excited to see the impact he will have on the soccer landscape in British Columbia as Managing Director of League1 BC, and we look forward to continuing to work alongside him as likeminded promoters of soccer in our province.”
