Moses Dyer joins Pacific FC on loan; Ayman Sellouf loaned to Vancouver FC

The Canadian Premier League’s two B.C. clubs announced a pair of moves on Friday, as Pacific FC announced they have acquired striker Moses Dyer from Vancouver FC on loan until the end of the 2024 season, while winger Ayman Sellouf has moved from Pacific to Vancouver, likewise on loan through the end of the campaign.

Dyer, a 27-year-old native of Palmerston North, New Zealand, has played 14 games this year for VFC in his first season with the club. He scored four goals and contributed two assists, including a goal against his new side Pacific back in May.

Prior to signing for Vancouver in 2024, Dyer spent a year in the USL Championship with FC Tulsa. He also has previous CPL experience over three seasons with Valour FC, where he made 57 appearances and scored 19 goals, making him the club’s all-time leading scorer.

At the international level, Dyer has 11 caps for the New Zealand senior team.

“Moses is a dynamic player with a lot of versatility on the pitch,” said Jamar Dixon, Pacific FC’s Manager of Football and Youth Development. “Primarily operating as a centre-forward, he displays a blend of technical ability and physicality that makes him a key asset to the team. Not only can Moses put the ball in the back of the net, but he can help create scoring opportunities with his passing and vision.”

Sellouf, 22, hails from Nijmegen, Netherlands and had been at Pacific since 2023. In total, he made 45 appearances for the club, scoring 11 goals with nine assists. So far this year, Sellouf has four goals in 13 games played (all competitions).

After his strong 2023 campaign, Sellouf finished fifth in voting for the Players’ Player of the Year award.

Before coming to the CPL, Sellouf’s entire career had been spent in the Netherlands, first with NEC Nijmegen and later with the reserve team of FC Utrecht.

“We are thrilled to add Ayman to our selection,” said Vancouver FC head coach Afshin Ghotbi. “He will add another dimension to our attack with his ability to break lines and create scoring opportunities for himself and his teammates.”

Both Dyer and Sellouf will be reasonably familiar with their new sides from having played against them in the B.C. Derby. In fact, both players scored in the first Pacific-Vancouver matchup of the 2024 season, as Sellouf scored from the penalty spot before Dyer found the equalizer in what turned out to be a 2-1 win for VFC at Willoughby Community Park.

Sellouf had actually been a major thorn in Vancouver’s side in both of the club’s seasons so far; not only did he score against the Eagles this year, he actually has four goal contributions (two goals, two assists) in total against his new team.

Both players could begin contributing to their new sides as early as this weekend; Dyer and Pacific FC will take on Atlético Ottawa at Starlight Stadium this Saturday, Aug. 17 (3 p.m. PT/6 p.m. ET), while Sellouf and Vancouver FC host Forge FC in Langley on Sunday, Aug. 18 (4 p.m. PT/7 p.m. ET).
