OneSoccer Hangout: All-Canadian CPL lineups, 5-player substitutes rule, & more

It was a Canadian soccer roundtable extravaganza during Monday’s OneSoccer Hangout, with hosts Kurt Larson, Oliver Platt, and Adam Jenkins discussing all things Canadian soccer.

The OneSoccer crew kicked things off by debating with which CPL club has the best all-Canadian roster. Larson selected CPL Champions Forge FC. Platt, meanwhile, opted for their 905 Derby rivals, York9 FC.

“York9 is basically the same team they had last year but add Chris Manella and Michael Petrasso,” Platt argued.

On the heels of OneSoccer’s interview with Tristan Borges, Jenkins asked the panel who could be the next multi-award winner in the CPL.

“It has to be Cavalry’s Sergio Camargo,” Platt offered. “If he can stay fully fit, he can be the best player in the CPL.”

Larson selected Forge FC winger Kadell Thomas, offering a “long shot” tag for the 23-year-old Ontario native.

Kurt, Oliver, and Adam also debated a permanent five-player substitution rule, suggested by FC Edmonton coach Jeff Paulus.

“I think you should believe in your young players enough to put them in the game from the start,” Larson said. “Throw on Prince Amanda late in the game in the situation, according to the game state, might not be good for him anyways.”
