Pacific FC acquires Kamron Habibullah on loan from Whitecaps

Pacific FC announced another addition to their 2022 squad on Friday, revealing that they have acquired Canadian forward Kamron Habibullah on loan from Major League Soccer side Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Habibullah, an 18-year-old attacking player born in Uzbekistan but raised in British Columbia, has been a part of the Whitecaps’ youth system since 2016. He signed his first professional contract in 2021, earning a first-team deal with Vancouver for the most recent MLS season.

He would go on to appear in the matchday XI nine times in 2021, coming off the bench on three occasions in MLS. Habibullah’s debut came on May 3, when he entered at the end of a 1-0 loss to Colorado Rapids.

Aside from his time with the Whitecaps, Habibullah has significant experience with Canada Soccer, having represented Les Rouges recently at the U-17 level. He played a significant role in Canada’s run at the 2019 Concacaf U-17 Championship, scoring twice and helping them qualify for the FIFA U-17 World Cup that year in Brazil — at which Habibullah played in all three of Canada’s games, starting against both New Zealand and Angola.

Habibullah is the 20th player on Pacific’s roster for 2022, and the fifth newcomer. He’ll join a deep attacking group on Vancouver Island, as James Merriman’s side looks to defend their CPL championship crown.

Pacific will kick off the 2022 season on Sunday, April 10, as they welcome Forge FC to Starlight Stadium for a rematch of the 2021 CPL Final (7 pm ET/4 pm PT, on OneSoccer).
