Pacific FC attacker Marco Bustos named CanPL.ca Player of the Week

Pacific FC talisman Marco Bustos has been named CanPL.ca Player of the Week for the week of October 23rd to October 29th.

The versatile winger, returning from injury, was firing on all cylinders in the Tridents’ 5-1 romp over FC Edmonton on Tuesday, scoring twice in a performance that saw the Player of the Year candidate look a dangerous attacking option all night.

The former Valour FC winger struck the crossbar on one of his team-high four shots as he slowly took over the match before adding the team’s fifth goal on the night from the penalty shot.

Bustos’ first came on a deft finish, taking the match to 3-0 at halftime. Check out the goal below.

As mentioned, the 24-year-old has been out with an injury since August, stunting his seven-goal, five-assist tally through 16 league matches. Still, the Pacific attacker reminded CanPL onlookers that he’s back in a big way – just in time for PFC’s foray into the playoffs and a massive Canadian Championship semi-final away to Toronto FC next Wednesday.

Other winners of CanPL.ca’s Player of the Week honours include Cavalry FC’s Daan Klomp and David Norman Jr., Kyle Bekker and Kwame Awuah of Forge FC, Valour FC’s Jonathan Sirois, Moses Dyer, and Andrew Jean-Baptiste, Ottawa’s Alberto Soto, and FC Edmonton’s Easton Ongaro.
