Pacific FC today announces the signing of Canadian striker Easton Ongaro to its roster ahead of the 2023 season.
Ongaro, 24, is one of the most prolific goalscorers in the Canadian Premier League all-time, with 25 goals in his 55 appearances.
“We are happy to add Easton to our team. He is a proven goal scorer at this level and has ambition for more,” said James Merriman, Head Coach, Pacific FC. “These are the type of players that we want at our club, and he will continue to develop in our environment.”
The six-foot-six striker from Edmonton, Alta. brings his nose for goal and skills as a target man to Pacific from Whitecaps FC 2 in MLS Next Pro, where he signed in July 2022. Ongaro scored three goals in seven appearances (four starts) for Whitecaps FC 2 and earned a short-term call-up with Vancouver Whitecaps in Major League Soccer in August 2022.
Ongaro was previously selected by Cavalry FC with the 15th overall pick in the 2018 CPL-U SPORTS Draft. He never represented the Calgary-based squad in league play, instead signing with his hometown team FC Edmonton ahead of the 2019 season.
While with FC Edmonton, a series of loans allowed Ongaro to see game action overseas. He joined Vendsyssell FF in the Danish 1st division in 2020. He later represented Romanian Liga 1 side FC UTA Arad, where he played in early 2022 before joining Whitecaps FC 2.
Ongaro will join a Pacific attack that boasts Josh Heard and Djenario Daniels, who will remain with the club for the coming season.
“Easton is incredibly motivated to win games for Pacific and hungry to progress, to push himself towards the next level,” said Merriman. “We look forward to working with him and supporting his development.”
