Schedule update: Pacific FC- Vancouver FC season opener moved to Saturday, April 15

The Canadian Premier League has announced a change to its 2023 opening weekend schedule, presented by WestJet.

The match between Pacific FC and Vancouver FC — previously scheduled for Friday, April 14 at 7 p.m. PT/10 p.m. ET — will now be played on Saturday, April 15 at 4 p.m. PT/7 p.m., setting the stage for an opening day CPL tripleheader live on dedicated soccer channel OneSoccer.

Vancouver FC’s inaugural match, and the club’s first trip to Starlight Stadium to face local rival Pacific FC in the first iteration of the league’s new west coast derby, will follow 2022 regular season champion Atlético Ottawa hosting Halifax Wanderers TD Place Stadium at 1 p.m. ET/2 p.m. ET and playoff champion Forge FC hosting Cavalry FC at Tim Hortons Field at 4 p.m. ET/2 p.m. MT. Opening weekend will wrap up on Sunday, April 16, when York United FC host Valour FC at Yorks Lions Stadium at 2 p.m. ET/1 p.m. CT.

OneSoccer is also available to more than one million Western Canadians as a linear channel on Optik TV (Ch.980), the pay-TV service operated by Telus, one of Canada’s ‘big three’ telecoms companies, as well as on streaming service fuboTV Canada, where it sits alongside a range of other premium sports offerings, including English Premier League and Serie A channels. The 2023 season will also be available to fans abroad through Fox Sports in the United States as well as through other selected broadcasters worldwide and globally through the OneSoccer website and app.
