Sights and Sounds: Atlético Ottawa 2-0 Cavalry FC

Atlético Ottawa toppled Cavalry FC 2-0 Sunday night, surprisingly taking all three points from one of the CPL’s early leaders in the 2021 season.

While Cavalry FC had over 60 per cent of possession and a handful of early looks on goal, a pair of late second-half goals from Ottawa was the difference.

An over-the-top ball from Milo Kapor landed to Zach Verhoven, who lifted the ball past Karifa Yao and onto the foot of Malcolm Shaw who slotted it home for an against-the-run-of-play go-ahead marker.

The Cavs pushed for an equalizer but ended up coming short. It looked like Anthony Novak had found the net but it was called back for offside.

Ottawa youngster Antoine Coupland found the second goal following a two-player break on net.

Here are your sights and sounds for Sunday night’s tilt.
