FC Edmonton nabbed their first win in nearly two years Thursday when they edged Forge FC 2-0 at IG Field in Winnipeg, Man.
A cagey first hour put the Eddies over the two-time CPL champions who continued to snap at chances. But it was FCE who found the breakthrough all the way at the 87th minute when Ramon Soria volleyed home an opener following a scramble in the box.
A second followed in extra time with Jeannot Esua serving up a delicious strike and all-important insurance marker.
The Eddies improve to 1-0-1 with the victory, while Forge FC falls to 0-0-2, their worst start to a season thus far.
Will @FCEdmontonNow or @ForgeFCHamilton find the opening goal?
