Fans in Halifax braved the elements to welcome their club back home on Monday, as HFX Wanderers took down Atlético Ottawa, 2-1, in their first game in front of the Kitchen at Wanderers Grounds in almost two years.
Although Ottawa got on the scoresheet first courtesy of Ryan Telfer’s header from a corner kick, the home side responded quickly as Joao Morelli scored twice in the first half to give HFX a lead that they would maintain for the rest of the match.
With their first game after the Kickoff now in the books for both sides, they’ll each look ahead to some more critical contests in the weeks to come — including Atlético Ottawa’s first-ever home opener on August 14.
