Atlético Ottawa are CPL Final-bound, as they secured a 1-1 result against Pacific FC on Sunday afternoon at TD Place, meaning they won this two-legged semifinal tie 3-1 on aggregate after last weekend’s first leg on Vancouver Island.
The visitors made things very competitive in this game, and drew within one of equalizing just half an hour in when Thomas Meilleur-Giguère scored a header from a corner kick. After that, though, Pacific found themselves repeatedly denied by a stout defensive Ottawa side and a brilliant goalkeeping performance from Nathan Ingham.
Ultimately, Ottawa sent the TD Place crowd into a frenzy in the 83rd minute, as Malcolm Shaw curled a shot from the top of the box into the net to put the tie out of reach and effectively seal Atleti’s place in the Final.
