York United returned to the win column on Tuesday night in Calgary, as they saw off Cavalry FC 1-0 at ATCO Field to end a 10-game winless run and claim three points on the road for the first time this season.
Osaze De Rosario celebrated his 21st birthday in style, scoring in the 29th minute off a good feed from Luis Lawrie-Lattanzio to put York ahead. His goal would stand as the only one in this game, as the Nine Stripes held out with a gutsy effort to preserve a clean sheet and see out the win.
It wasn’t easy for York in the second half, having to play with 10 men after Jordan Wilson was sent off for a second caution in the 51st minute, but ultimately they kept the ball out of their net — with some timely help from goalkeeper Niko Giantsopoulos.
