Forge FC defeated 905 Derby rivals York United on Saturday evening at Tim Hortons Field, winning 2-0 to collect three points and clinch a berth in the 2022 CPL playoffs.
The first half ended scoreless, but Forge took control in the second frame and scored off a pair of second-phase set pieces. Malik Owolabi-Belewu got his first goal for Forge with a back-post header, before Aboubacar Sissoko made it 2-0 with a blast from outside the box.
Forge continued to cement their place in the top two as well, and with two games left to play they continue to contend for the regular season title.
