HFX Wanderers FC added three vital points to their ledger on Saturday afternoon, as they saw off FC Edmonton at Wanderers Grounds with a narrow 1-0 result.
Joao Morelli continued his phenomenal run of form, scoring his 12th goal of the 2021 CPL campaign in the first half to secure the win for HFX — and further pad his own lead atop the league’s Golden Boot race. He’s now just one goal back of Tristan Borges’ mark of 13 goals that won him the scoring title back in 2019.
FC Edmonton had plenty of chances on Saturday, outshooting the Wanderers 18-14, but they were unable to break through and get anything out of the match despite some positive moments.
