Valour FC forward Loïc Kwemi has been named Canada Soccer’s 2024 Futsal Player of the Year, as selected by the National Team Program.
Kwemi, 27, finished as joint-second top goalscorer at the 2024 Concacaf Futsal Championship, scoring six goals and leading Canada to the quarterfinals. He made his national team debut in 2024, after previously being called up for the first time at the end of 2022.
At club level this year, Kwemi made headlines in May when he scored for Ligue1 Québec side CS Saint-Laurent in their historic Canadian Championship win over Canadian Premier League club Halifax Wanderers FC. In June he took the leap to the professional game, signing with Valour FC. With the Winnipeggers he made appearances in 14 of the club’s remaining 16 games, providing two assists to his teammates.
Canada Soccer’s Para Player of the Year will be announced on Tuesday, followed by the Young Player of the Year winners on Wednesday and Player of the Year winners on Friday.
